During this era, this civic bronze double unit was struck at Apollonia Pontike in Thrace, an ancient settlement on the Black Sea coast originally called Antheia. The issue portrays Faustina the Younger, the emperor's youngest daughter, who was married to Marcus Aurelius and served as Roman empress from 161 until her death in 175/176 AD.
