Philip I, commonly known as Philip the Arab, served as Roman emperor from 244 to 249 following the death of Gordian III. His son, Philip II or Philip the Younger, was elevated to rule jointly alongside his father from 247 to 249. This bronze coin was issued under their authority by the civic mint of Bizye in the province of Thrace.
