Reverse: Adlocutio scene; two laureate emperors (Philip the Arab and Philippus iunior) in military attire riding right on horseback, raising right arms, being acclaimed by legionaries in front of them. This civic bronze coin was struck at Bizye in Thrace during the Roman Imperial Period, dated to AD 244–249. Marcus Julius Philippus, commonly known as Philip the Arab, reigned as Roman Emperor from 244 to 249 after serving as Praetorian prefect under Gordian III. From 247 to 249, his son Philip II (Philippus iunior) ruled jointly alongside him as co-emperor.
