Historical context
Publius Septimius Geta was Roman emperor from 209 to 211, reigning alongside his father Septimius Severus and his older brother Caracalla. Following the death of Severus in February 211, the brothers were intended to rule together, but Geta was murdered in December of that year after they proved incapable of sharing power. During this brief joint reign between 209 and 211, civic bronze coinage was struck in his name at Topeiros in Thrace.
