Historical context
Augusta Traiana, previously known as Beroe or Beroia, was an ancient city located in the Upper Thracian Plain that became a major urban centre during Roman rule. Publius Septimius Geta was Roman emperor alongside his father Septimius Severus and elder brother Caracalla from 209 to 211. Following the death of Severus in February 211, the brothers proved incapable of sharing authority, culminating in the murder of Geta in December of that year.
