Historical context

Dikaia, also known as Dikaiopolis or Dicaea, was an ancient Greek port town situated in Thrace on Lake Bistonis in the country of the Bistones. Stephanus of Byzantium recorded that the town took its name from Dicaeus, the son of Poseidon. Located roughly 2 miles west of Mese, the city produced this civic bronze coinage during the Classical period around 400–350 BC.
