Historical context

Pactya, or Paktye, was an ancient Greek city situated on the Thracian Chersonesus in Thrace. According to tradition, the town was founded by Miltiades, and Herodotus records that Miltiades the Elder constructed a wall between Cardia and Pactya on the Propontis side to prevent invasions by the Apsinthii. The city was a member of the Delian League during the Classical Period before later joining with Cardia to form Lysimachia.
