Historical context

Troas, also known as the Troad, was an ancient geographical region situated in northwestern Anatolia. The region is bounded by the Dardanelles to the northwest and by the Aegean Sea to the west, separated from the wider Anatolian landmass by Mount Ida. The territory encompasses the valleys of the Scamander and Simoeis rivers, which converge near the historical site of Troy.
