Brisé fan, sticks consisting of 28 connected ivory sticks pierced and carved. On the guard sticks a border decoration of steel beads. On the guard sticks a small silver band, for reinforcement or decoration?

Steel pivot pin with paste button. Decoration: in the centre a medallion painted in watercolour with a depiction of the mystical marriage of Cupid and Psyche. This image is modelled after a sardonyx cameo signed in Greek 'Tryphon made this', which in the 18th century was in the collection of the Duke of Marlborough. On the medallion, the veiled couple is shown being led by a putto with a torch on a knotted cord to the bridal bed, which is being turned down by another putto.

The third putto holds a 'liknon' or sacred basket, in which the first fruits of the field were offered to the gods, above the couple's heads. Wedding fan.
