Period

April 1920

This set of three German emergency money (Notgeld) banknotes originates from the market town of Aurolzmünster, dated April 9, 1920. The denominations included are 10, 20, and 50 Heller.

These paper notes are printed in distinct color schemes for each denomination, with orange for the 10 Heller, violet for the 20 Heller, and blue for the 50 Heller note. Each note features a portrait of Anton Graf von Arco auf Valley on the left side, with the denomination written in large, prominent numerals and Gothic script text alongside the portrait. The inscriptions include the municipality's name, the date of issue, and a disclaimer regarding the validity of the notes, along with the signature of the mayor, Joh.

Hettl. The notes reflect the political climate of the post-World War I era in Bavaria. They are presented as a set representing a specific period of regional currency issuance during a time of economic instability and political upheaval in Germany, serving both as local legal tender and a medium for contemporary political commentary.
