Historical context

Cebrene, also spelled Cebren, was an ancient Greek city located in the middle Skamander valley within the Troad region of Anatolia. Supposedly named after the river-god Cebren, the city had its archaeological remains identified on Çal Dağ in the foothills of Mount Ida. Struck during the Classical to Hellenistic period, dated c. 350–310 BC, this bronze coin was issued by the civic authority of Kebren.
