Gordian III, born Marcus Antonius Gordianus, served as Roman emperor from 238 to 244, ascending to the throne at 13 years of age. This bronze five-unit piece was minted under his reign during the Roman Imperial Period by Dionysopolis. The city was situated in Moesia Inferior, a region within the Roman province of Moesia south of the Danube River.
