Historical context

This bronze piece was struck at Antandros, an ancient Greek city situated on the north side of the Gulf of Adramyttium within the Troad region of Anatolia. It was minted during the reign of Roman emperor Caracalla, who ruled from 198 to 217 AD, representing the civic coinage produced by local cities under imperial Roman administration.
