Historical context
Neandreia, also referred to as Neandrium or Neandros, was an ancient Greek city located in the south-west of the Troad region of Anatolia on Çığrı Dağ. During the Classical Period, between circa 427 and 400 BC, the city acted as an autonomous issuing authority, striking silver fractions such as this hemiobol bearing its abbreviated civic name.
