Historical context

Alexandria Troas, historically known as "Alexandria of the Troad", was an ancient Greek city located in the Troad region on the Aegean Sea near the northern tip of the western coast of Turkey, just south of Tenedos. Operating during the Roman Imperial Period, the city occupied a sprawling site of roughly 400 hectares southeast of modern Dalyan in the Ezine district of Çanakkale Province.
