Historical context
Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander, also known as Alexander Severus, was Roman emperor from 222 until 235 AD and the final ruler of the Severan dynasty. During the Roman Imperial Period, the province of Moesia, created after Roman conquests south of the Danube River, included Moesia Inferior, where civic coinage was issued under imperial authority at Tomis.
