Period

ca. 1900-1904

Tobacco box with ojime, and tobacco pipe with holder. The pipe, with cane stem and brass bowl and mouthpiece, fits into the holder, a grooved piece of wood open at one end and cut with an oval hollow at the other.

Attached by a cord with button is the wooden tobacco box, which is in the form of a house, inlaid on one side with an ivory medallion carved with a figure. The front of the house forms the lid of the pouch which encloses a specimen of native tobacco.
