Historical context

Julian, nephew of Constantine the Great, served as Caesar of Western Rome from 355 to 360 after being appointed by Constantius II to govern Gaul, before ruling as Roman emperor from 361 to 363. During this period, between AD 355 and AD 361, this billon coin was struck at Cyzicus, an ancient Greek town situated in Mysia in Anatolia, located on the shoreward side of the Kapıdağ Peninsula.
