Historical context

Constantius II became Augustus alongside his brothers, Constantine II and Constans, on 9 September 337 following the death of his father, Constantine the Great. In the division of the Roman Empire, Constantius received Thrace, Greece, Egypt, and the Asian provinces in the east. This siliqua was produced between AD 337 and AD 340 at the mint of Heraclea, also known as Perinthus, an ancient city in Thrace on the Propontis.
