Historical context

Poimanenon was a fortified Greek town in ancient Mysia, located south of Cyzicus and southwest of Lake Aphnitis, known for its celebrated temple of Asclepius. Civic bronzes struck at Poimanenon around 175–177 reflect this period of his youth and rise within the imperial administration.
