Coin in bronze struck at Hadrianoi in Mysia under Hadrian, dated c. AD 131–138. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 16852 (issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Laureate bust of Hadrian, right, wearing cuirass and paludamentum. Legend: [ Κ]ΑΙ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟ(Ϲ) ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ [..]. Reverse: Zeus enthroned left, holding Nike (?) in outstretched right hand, left resting on sceptre. Legend: [..]ΙΝΟV ΑΡΧ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΩΝ. Historical context

Hadrian ruled as Roman emperor from 117 to 138, succeeding Trajan as a member of the Nerva–Antonine dynasty. An active promoter of philhellenism, he travelled across almost every province of the Roman Empire and favoured direct intervention in provincial administration and civic building initiatives. This bronze issue was struck under his imperial authority at the city of Hadrianoi in Mysia, a region situated in north-western Asia Minor.
