Coin in bronze struck at Hadrianoi in Mysia under Hadrian, dated c. AD 131–138. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 16861 (period: Roman Imperial Period; issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Draped male bust of the personification of the Roman Senate, right. Legend: ΙЄΡΑ ϹVΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ. Reverse: Athena standing left, wearing helmet, holding patera and shield set on the ground; behind, spear; at her feet, left, altar. Legend: ΑΔΡΙΑΝΩΝ ΠΡΟϹ ΟΛVΜΠ. Measured specimens give a mean weight of 8.26 g (from 1 recorded specimen) and a diameter of 24 mm (from 1 recorded specimen). Historical context

Hadrian ruled as Roman emperor from 117 to 138, pursuing imperial administration through direct intervention and extensive building projects across the provinces. The town of Hadriani, or Hadrianoi, situated in ancient Bithynia near Mount Olympus and the western bank of the river Rhyndacus, was built by Hadrian himself. Struck under his reign, this civic issue reflects the authority of the newly founded city alongside the personification of the Roman Senate.
