Historical context

Parion, also known as Parium, was an ancient Greek city situated in Mysia on the Hellespont. Severus Alexander, born Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander, ruled as Roman emperor from 222 until his assassination in March 235 AD. He was the final emperor of the Severan dynasty, ascending the imperial throne at the age of 13 after the murder of his cousin Elagabalus.
