Severus Alexander was Roman emperor from 222 to 235 AD, succeeding his cousin Elagabalus at the age of 13 as the final ruler of the Severan dynasty. His thirteen-year reign represented a period of domestic prosperity, though challenged by external military threats from the Sassanid Empire and Germanic tribes. Civic authorities in provincial regions such as Mysia struck coinage under his authority, including this issue minted at the city of Hadrianoi.
