Historical context

Hadrianeia, or Hadriania, was a town located in ancient Mysia, near modern Dursunbey in Asiatic Turkey. Gordian III, named Marcus Antonius Gordianus, served as Roman emperor from 238 to 244 after ascending the throne at the age of 13. This civic coin was struck under his imperial authority during his reign between AD 238 and 244.
