Coin struck at Hadrianotherai in Mysia under Hadrian, dated AD 117–138. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 19551 (period: Roman Imperial Period; issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Draped male bust of the personification of the Roman Senate, right. Legend: ΙЄΡΑ ϹVΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ. Reverse: Asclepius standing facing, head left, holding serpent-staff in right hand. Legend: ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟΘΗΡΙΤΩΝ. Measured specimens give a mean weight of 5.66 g (mean of 2 recorded specimens) and a diameter of 21.4–23.1 mm (from 2 recorded specimens). Historical context

Hadrian served as Roman emperor from 117 to 138, travelling widely throughout the provinces and actively promoting building programmes. Among his civic projects was the town of Hadrianotherae in Mysia, founded by Hadrian to commemorate a successful hunt held in the area. Coins were struck by the city from Hadrian's reign onward, with civic issues from this period featuring the local Senate alongside traditional divine subjects.
