Historical context

Priapos, an ancient city situated at modern Karabiga on a bay at the mouth of the Biga River, was located in the region of Mysia. Mysia occupied the northwest of ancient Asia Minor along the south coast of the Sea of Marmara, bordering the Propontis, Troad, and Bithynia. This bronze issue was produced by the civic authority of Priapos during the Hellenistic Period.
