Obverse: Laureate head of Apollo, right. Reverse: Butting bull, left. Historical context

Gambrion, also known as Gambrium, was an ancient town in Mysia and ancient Aeolis, situated close to Pergamum on a hill called Hisarlık in the Bakırçay valley. The settlement is mentioned in the Hellenica of Xenophon, which describes the region in 399 BCE, when Gorgion, son of Gongylos, ruled both the town and Palaegambrium. This bronze issue belongs to the Classical or Hellenistic civic coinage of the city, struck around 350–300 BC.
