Historical context

This bronze coin was issued by the city of Plakia during the Classical or Hellenistic Period, circa 350–300 BC. Plakia was a Pelasgian settlement situated in the region of Mysia in north-western Asia Minor, positioned on the coast of the Propontis at the foot of the Mysian Olympus, east of Cyzicus.
