Coin in bronze struck at Adramyttion in Mysia under Geta, dated c. AD 198–206. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 2895 (period: Roman Imperial Period; issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Confronted busts of youthful Caracalla, laureate, wearing cuirass and paludamentum, and of youthful Geta, wearing cuirass and paludamentum. Legend: ΑV Κ Μ ΑV ΑΝΤΩΝЄΙΝΟϹ ΚΑΙ Π ϹЄΠ ΓЄΤΑ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ. Reverse: Zeus standing left, holding eagle and sceptre. Legend: ЄΠΙ ϹΤΡ Π ΑΙ ЄVΤVΧΟVϹ ΑΔΡΑΜVΤΗΝΩΝ. Measured specimens give a mean weight of 27.68 g (from 1 recorded specimen) and a diameter of 35 mm (from 1 recorded specimen).

Historical context

Struck by the ancient city of Adramyttion in the region of Mysia, this bronze issue dates to the Severan period. The obverse depicts the youthful brothers Caracalla and Geta. Caracalla was proclaimed co-ruler by their father, Emperor Septimius Severus, in 198, with Geta also made co-ruler in 209. Following Severus's death in 211, the brothers briefly shared power before Caracalla had Geta murdered later that year.
