Historical context
This Classical Period bronze coin was issued by the city of Thebe in Mysia between c. 380 and 330 BC. Thebe Hypoplakia, also known as Placian Thebe, Placia, or Hypoplacia, was an ancient city in Anatolia. The settlement took its name from its location at the foot of Mount Placus, near the modern village of Tepeoba.
