Coin in bronze struck at Kisthene in Mysia, dated c. 362–348 BC. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 3423 (period: Classical Period; issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Head of satrap right, wearing kyrbasia. Reverse: Horseman galopping right, wearing fluttering cloak and raising right arm. Legend: ΚΙΣΘΑ. Historical context

This coin was issued during the Classical Period by Kisthene, also known as Cisthene, a coastal town in western Mysia in ancient Aeolis. Mysia was a region in the northwest of ancient Asia Minor, situated along the south coast of the Sea of Marmara and bounded by Bithynia, Phrygia, Lydia, Aeolis, Troad, and the Propontis. Positioned opposite Lesbos Island, Kisthene possessed copper mines and is generally associated by modern scholars with the area near Ayvalık or Gömeç.
