Historical context
Struck at the Rome mint, this silver denarius formed part of the standard Roman silver coinage. The obverse presents Vitellius with the legend "A VITELLIVS GERMANICVS IMP", reflecting his chosen imperial title. The reverse depicts Concordia seated, holding a patera and cornucopia, accompanied by the inscription "CONCORDIA P R". His reign in Rome concluded in December AD 69 following the invasion of forces loyal to Vespasian, leading to Vitellius's defeat and execution.
