Historical context

Honorius was Roman emperor from 393 to 423. The younger son of emperor Theodosius I and Aelia Flaccilla, he ruled the western half of the empire following his father's death in 395, initially under the regency of Stilicho, while his brother Arcadius ruled the eastern half. His western reign was marked by precarious and chaotic conditions, culminating in the sack of Rome in 410.

Struck at the Rome mint, this silver multiple bears the obverse inscription "D N HONORI-VS P F AVG".
