Historical context

Domitian ruled as Roman emperor from 81 to 96, representing the final ruler of the Flavian dynasty after succeeding his father Vespasian and brother Titus. During his fifteen-year reign, he pursued authoritarian governance, curtailed the powers of the Senate, and sought to strengthen the imperial economy by revaluing the Roman coinage. This coin is an as, a bronze and copper denomination used across the Roman Republic and Roman Empire, minted in Rome under Domitian's imperial authority.
