Historical context

This bronze dupondius was minted at Rome under the authority of Titus. The denomination, used across the Roman Empire, was traditionally valued at two asses, equivalent to half a sestertius or one-eighth of a denarius following the coinage reforms of Augustus. The obverse displays Julia Titi accompanied by the legend "IVLIA IMP T AVG F AVGVSTA", while the reverse shows Vesta seated with a palladium and sceptre alongside the legend "VESTA S C".
