Historical context

Vespasian was Roman emperor from 69 to 79, coming to power after the Year of the Four Emperors and founding the Flavian dynasty. His reign brought political stability and fiscal reforms following civil conflict. This silver issue was struck at the mint of Rome during his reign, under his imperial authority, while his eldest son Titus served as his successor.

Struck during Vespasian's rule, this coin features the laureate head of his son Titus on the obverse alongside the legend "T CAESAR IMP VESPASIAN", while the reverse displays an upright winged caduceus accompanied by the inscription "PONTIF TR P COS III".
