Historical context

Vespasian ruled as Roman emperor from 69 to 79, coming to power as the final ruler during the Year of the Four Emperors. He established the Flavian dynasty, which governed the empire for twenty-seven years. Proclaimed emperor by legions in Egypt and Judaea in 69, he gained senatorial recognition in Rome and pursued financial reforms and political consolidation throughout his ten-year reign.

The obverse bears the emperor's portrait and names him with the legend "CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG". The reverse depicts Annona seated with an open sack of corn-ears, accompanied by the legend "ANNONA AVG".
