Historical context

During his principate, Hadrian focused on governing from Rome and across the provinces, pursuing defensive borders and consolidating the empire's diverse populations.

This silver denarius was struck at the mint of Rome under Hadrian's authority. The denarius served as the standard Roman silver coin from its introduction around 211 BC until the third century. The coin's obverse presents Sabina with the title "SABINA AVGVSTA HADRIANI AVG P P", while the reverse bears the legend "CONCORDIA AVG" and depicts Concordia seated, holding a patera and resting her arm on Spes.
