The obverse shows bust of Faustina the Younger, draped, double row of pearls, hair elaborately waved in nearly vertical lines and fastened in a low chignon at back of head round head, down cheek, curls, right, with the legend FAVSTINA AVGVSTA.

The reverse shows juno, draped, standing left, holding patera in extended right hand and sceptre in left hand; at left, peacock, with the legend IVNO S C. Historical context

Marcus Aurelius ruled as Roman emperor from 161 to 180, having married Faustina the Younger in 145. Faustina, the youngest child of Emperor Antoninus Pius and Empress Faustina the Elder, served as Roman empress from 161 until her death in 175 or 176. She was held in high esteem by her husband and the military, bearing the titles Augusta and Mater Castrorum.
