Historical context

Publius Septimius Geta was Roman emperor alongside his father Septimius Severus and older brother Caracalla from 209 to 211. Following the death of Severus in February 211, the brothers were intended to rule together. Incapable of sharing power, Geta was murdered in December of that year. The coin is an as, a bronze and later copper denomination utilized during the Roman Republic and Roman Empire, struck under Geta at the mint of Rome.
