Historical context

Titus Fulvius Junius Macrianus, known as Macrianus Minor, was a Roman usurper and the son of Fulvius Macrianus. He challenged imperial authority between AD 260 and AD 261 before his death in 261. This gold aureus was produced in Antioch, Syria, an ancient capital of Roman Syria and one of the largest cities in the Roman Empire, which fell within the usurper's sphere of operations.
