Historical context

Titus Fulvius Junius Macrianus, known as Macrianus Minor, was a Roman usurper and the son of Fulvius Macrianus, or Macrianus Major. His brief rebellion ended with his death in 261. This silver antoninianus, a denomination introduced under Caracalla in 215 AD as a double denomination indicated by a radiate crown, was struck at Antioch, Syria, between AD 260 and AD 261 to support his usurpation.
