Historical context

Marcus Aurelius Claudius Quintillus became Roman emperor in 270 following the death of his brother, Claudius Gothicus. His brief reign lasted only a few weeks before he died in 270 after being overthrown by Aurelian. This antoninianus was produced during his rule at the ancient mint of Cyzicus, a town located in Mysia in Anatolia.
