Historical context

Publia Licinia Julia Cornelia Salonina was an Augusta of the Roman Empire and the wife of Gallienus, who ruled as co-emperor alongside his father Valerian from 253 to 260 AD. This silver antoninianus was produced between AD 256 and AD 257 under Valerian at the mint of Mediolanum, an important Roman city in northern Italy where Salonina later died in 268.
