RIC VI Antioch 125. Denomination: AE2. Authority: Maximinus Daia. Mint: Antioch, Syria. The obverse shows bust of Maximinus Daia, helmeted, cuirassed, left, holding spear over right shoulder and shield decorated with two riders and four prisoners on left arm, with the legend MAXIMINVS NOB CAES.

The reverse shows virtus, draped, cuirassed, standing front, head left, leaning on shield with right hand and vertical spear with left hand, with the legend VIRTVS EXERCITVS. Historical context

Born Daza, Maximinus Daia was appointed to the Tetrarchy as caesar in 305 by his uncle Galerius, later claiming the title of augustus in 310. He governed eastern Roman territories and engaged in civil wars before dying in 313 following his defeat by Licinius at the Battle of Tzirallum. This bronze piece was struck for him in Antioch, Syria, the former Seleucid capital that served as the capital of Roman Syria.
