Historical context
This bronze AE2 coinage was produced under the authority of Maximinus Daia, also known as Galerius Valerius Maximinus, at the mint of Antioch in Syria. Maximinus had entered the Tetrarchy as caesar in 305 through his uncle Galerius, later claiming the title of augustus in 310.
Struck in the name of Constantine I, the obverse bears the laureate head of Constantine alongside the inscription "IMP C FL VAL CONSTANTINVS P F AVG". The reverse design depicts a nude Genius wearing a modius with a chlamys draped over his left shoulder, pouring liquid from a patera and holding a cornucopiae.
