Historical context

Constantius Chlorus served as one of the four original members of the Tetrarchy established by Diocletian. He ruled as caesar from 293 to 305 and subsequently governed as augustus from May 305 until his death at Eboracum in July 306. As a member of the imperial college, his authority extended over regions including Gaul and Britain.

Produced at the mint of Aquileia under the authority of Constantius Chlorus, this bronze AE1 piece features the laureate head of Galerius on the obverse accompanied by the inscription "IMP MAXIMIANVS P F AVG". The reverse depicts Fides draped and standing front, facing left while holding a standard in each hand, framed by the legend "FIDES MILITVM AVGG ET CAESS NN".
