Historical context
Constantine I became Roman emperor in 306, having been proclaimed augustus by his army at Eboracum following the death of his father, Flavius Constantius. Maximinus Daza, who had entered the Tetrarchy as caesar in 305, claimed the rank of augustus in 310, ruling until 313. Struck at Rome under the authority of Constantine I, this coin bears the imperial portrait and title of his contemporary ruler Maximinus Daia.
