Historical context

Constantius I, known as Constantius Chlorus, served as an original member of the Tetrarchy established by Diocletian. He ruled as caesar from 293 to 305 and subsequently as augustus until his death on 25 July 306. His authority spanned the western Roman Empire, where he campaigned in Gaul and Britain before dying at Eboracum during a campaign against the Picts.

Struck at the mint of Siscia, this bronze AE3 was issued under Constantius Chlorus during the imperial period. The obverse presents the laureate head of Severus II alongside the legend "FL VAL SEVERVS NOB C", naming him as noble caesar. The reverse depicts a genius standing nude with a modius, draped chlamys, patera, and cornucopiae, accompanied by the inscription "GENIO POP-VLI ROMANI".
